Home Decor Tips – Uses the Surprising Colors of Scandinavian Furniture
In this article I will share with you a little bit about Home decor for the Scandinavian people. There is something about the Scandinavian decor that makes it so soothing and relaxing. Scandinavians have such a great sense of calm and balance that they really do promote a lifestyle that is so simple yet so full of energy. This can be seen in their homes, where all the furniture is simple, clean, minimal, but yet very appealing. Their lighting fixtures are usually quite minimal as well, with a focus on the colors rather than the design, and this has led to a lot of their furniture being simple, yet functional.
So what is so interesting about this type of home decor? It’s simple, yet attractive. The colors are vibrant yet still very soothing, the furniture is sparse but yet very inviting, and of course the walls are almost always bare. What these types of people are known for most is the colors, and their use of red, orange, yellow, blue, green and white is very popular.
You’ll notice the same thing happening in their walls. You’ll also want to pay close attention to the wallpaper they use. In many cases they use a combination of black and white or perhaps silver and gold. Scandinavian designs are characterized by a heavy use of red, followed by neutral colors like blue and sometimes green.
Their bedrooms are no different. As was mentioned above, the focus is on color. The furniture is minimalist, with a focus on wood rather than iron. Even the bedding and pillows are very Scandinavian in nature, with the colors often using shades of red and gold. Again, this emphasizes the simplicity and balancing act the Scandinavians try to bring to their home decorating efforts.
As you can see, the focus isn’t on ornamentation, but on color and simplicity. If that doesn’t give you the idea, then perhaps taking a cue from the decor in the rest of your home will. The living room is a room where you probably spend a majority of your time. It’s a room that you go to first thing in the morning and it’s a room you likely spend much of your free time in.
Perhaps your decor in the rest of the house might be focused on the dining room. If so, try to play up the Nordic elements even further by adding wooden pieces to that room as well as the use of color. You can find Nordic-inspired furniture and accents at any furniture store or home center. Again, use these same colors to create simple but elegant living room decor.
Of course, while we’re talking about the home decor, I should probably tell you about the types of candles that are available. These days, it’s not unusual to see an entire Candle Style set in a home. These candle sets are very simple, but they have a very rich, luxurious look that I really love. If you don’t want to buy one of these, you can always just use scented candles. Just find some that match the colors you already have in your home and use those as your ambient candle color.
If you want a more simplistic approach to your home decor, there is still a lot that you can do with a little imagination. The area behind the couch, for example, can easily become a book that is filled with great conversation topics. If you’re lucky, you might even have neighbors that you can talk to that share your love of Scandinavian home decor. Don’t be afraid to mix things up a bit. That’s half the fun! In the end, it’s all about the looks and the true personality of your home decor.
